Inhuman and degrading treatment – human rights – article 3 European Convention

The applicant complained of inhuman and degrading treatment during his detention in Broadmoor. He complained that he was kept in insanitary conditions, without proper clothing and little opportunity for exercise and association. He also complained about the lighting, ventilation and furnishing and the fact that he was kept in seclusion for a period of five weeks. A friendly settlement was reached, following a visit by the European Commission to Broadmoor.
